Stand at the foot of the world’s highest mountain—faster, safer, and smarter with Northern Trekking Team.
On day one, you'll fly into Lukla and then trek to Phakding. The flight is only 35 minutes, but it's a bit of a bumpy ride. The trek itself is 7.8 kilometers and will take you 3-4 hours to complete. Along the way, you'll get to see Sherpa's traditional villages.
Waking up in Phakding, you'll be ready to tackle the first real challenge of the trek: the Namche Bazaar. The trail today is steep and difficult, but the rewards are great. Once you reach Namche, you'll be able to rest and enjoy some of the best views on the entire trek. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you make your way to Namche Bazaar.
-The climb starts early.
-The incline is relentless at times and can be exhausting, so take your time on this one.
-Namche Bazaar is also known as the Village of Sherpas due to its high population of ethnic Sherpa people, so it's a good place for an authentic Himalayan experience! If you're looking for something a little more active, though, don't worry--you won't want to miss Hotel Everest View 3,800m. It has spectacular 360-degree views of the Khumbu Valley below.
-There are several cafes in town that serve delicious food and offer beautiful panoramic views from their rooftop tables. Be sure to stop by one if you get the chance!
The third day of the Everest Base Camp Trek takes you from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche. The distance is 8.6 kilometers and it will take you 5-6 hours to complete the trek. The first part of the trek is a gradual ascent to Tengboche. Along the way, you will be treated to stunning views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. After reaching Tengboche, you will have some time to explore the monastery before heading back to your lodge for the night.
On day four of the Everest Base Camp Trek, you will wake up early and have breakfast at your guesthouse. You will then begin your trek to Dingboche, which will take approximately five to six hours. The trail is mostly uphill, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. However, the views are incredible and you will likely see some amazing snowcapped mountain views along the way. When you reach Dingboche, you can check into your guesthouse and relax for the rest of the evening.
The fifth day of the Everest Base Camp Trek is a relatively short one, at only 8 kilometers. However, don't be fooled by the distance - this is still a tough hike. The trail takes you from Dingboche to Lobuche, and the altitude gain is significant. Expect to spend 4-5 hours on the trail.
After a long day of trekking, you'll finally arrive at Gorak Shep, the last stop before Everest Base Camp. You may be tired, but don't miss the opportunity to visit Everest Base Camp! It's an amazing experience to stand at the base of the world's tallest mountain. Here are a few things to keep in mind during your visit:
-The walk from Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp is about 1.5 hours each way, so plan accordingly.
-Be sure to pack warm clothing, as it can be quite cold at the EBC.
-And finally, don't forget your camera! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take some incredible photos.
Waking up early is key on day seven, as you'll want to get an early start on the hike to Kala Patthar. The trek is a long one, but the views from the top are more than worth it. You can see the great views of Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, and the other Himalayas ranges. After enjoying the views, you'll head back down to Pheriche.
After a good night's sleep, you'll wake up refreshed and ready to tackle the long day ahead. The first part of the trek is relatively easy, following a wide valley for a few hours before reaching Pangboche. On the way, you'll have lunch and take a short break before continuing on to Namche Bazaar.
The final day of the trek is a descent from Namche Bazaar to Lukla, a total distance of 10 kilometers that takes 6-7 hours to complete. The trail is mostly downhill, but there are a few uphill sections as well.
After early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. The flight takes about 35 minutes, and upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Kathmandu is a bustling city, and you'll likely want to spend some time exploring on your own before heading home. Our representative can help you book any additional tours or activities that you're interested in.
On Day 10, there's not much to do besides relaxing and enjoying your last day in Nepal. In the evening, we'll have a farewell dinner where we can share stories and reflect on our time together. We'll also toast to new adventures and memories made on this incredible trek.
