The best time to go for the Annapurna Circuit Trekking is between October and April. During this time, the weather is generally mild and the views are spectacular. It is also a great time to view the snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna range.
When planning your trek, it’s important to note that the monsoon season (May to September) will be wet, making trekking more difficult. The trails can become slippery and dangerous due to mud and rocks being dislodged by heavy rain. If you plan to go during this time, make sure to bring extra supplies and prepare yourself for possible inclement weather.
It's also important to remember that higher altitudes experience extreme temperature changes from day to night. Make sure you have the right clothing and equipment to protect yourself from the cold and wet weather.
Regardless of the Annapurna Circuit when to go, it’s always a good idea to start your journey well-prepared. Make sure you pack enough warm layers and rain gear, in addition to food and other supplies that you might need during your trek. Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots are essential, as the terrain can often be slippery and muddy. Also, don't forget to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and insect repellent to protect you from sunburns and bugs. A first aid kit is also an absolute must in case of any accidents or injuries on the trail. An Annapurna circuit trek itinerary should include lots of stops along the way - visiting local villages and exploring some of the amazing attractions along the route, like Poon Hill, Annapurna Sanctuary, Tatopani Hot Springs, Thorong La Pass, Tilicho Lake and Muktinath Temple. Plan ahead and allow yourself plenty of days to get the most out of this incredible experience.
If you’re looking to embark on a Short Annapurna Circuit trek, you’ll need to plan how to get there first. The best way to reach the starting point of the trek is to fly into Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. From there, you can take a private car or bus to the town of Besisahar, which is the traditional starting point for most treks of the Annapurna Circuit. The drive usually takes about 8-10 hours, and you’ll be able to pick up supplies for your trek along the way.
Alternatively, if you’re short on time, you can take a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then hire a jeep or take a bus to Besisahar from there. This route is much faster, but also more expensive. Once you’ve reached Besisahar, you’ll start the trek at either Khudi or Ngadi and begin your journey around the Annapurna Circuit. Depending on where you choose to start, you'll follow either a northern or southern route. Both routes will take you through several different villages, each with its own culture and customs.
Along the Annapurna Circuit Trek Route, you'll pass through several stunning landscapes that include terraced fields, lush forests, icy glaciers, and towering peaks that offer unparalleled views of the Himalayan mountain range. As you make your way around the circuit, it's important to keep hydrated, take breaks when needed, and stay aware of any changes in altitude that could affect your health. With some preparation and proper planning, it's possible to complete this incredible journey in two weeks!
