Northern Trekking Team extends a warm welcome to you in this city of temples—Kathmandu. One of our team members will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and escort you to the hotel.

On this day, we will introduce you to a guide who will lead you to Ghorepani Poonhill Trek. He will assure you of all the requirements and brief you about your adventure that will begin soon. If time permits, we suggest you roam around the streets of Thamel and enjoy this beautiful touristic center of the country, Nepal.

We will be heading toward the city of lakes—Pokhara—today by bus. It is roughly a drive of six hours. Trishuli and Marshyangdi river are major attractions of this ride followed by towering mountains while entering in Pokhara.

Pokhara is one of the most liked touristic cities of Nepal. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) mountain and Fewa lakes are the main attractions of this naturally blessed city. You can enjoy the city on your own. Boating and evening walk on lakeside are must do things here.

Hurray! Trek beings from today! It takes approximately one and half hours to reach Nayapul from Pokhara. We will hire a taxi to get here. Hike to Ghandruk is so pleasant as you will get an opportunity to get acquainted with locals who mostly are Magar and Gurung, ethnic people of Nepal. They are popular for their valor and a large number of them join the British or Indian Army.

Passing through Birethanti, Chimrung, Syauli Bazaar, Kimche, and Chane—you arrive in Ghandruk. The key attractions of this place are Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) mountains.

It is an interesting walk of your life. Why? You will be climbing on stone stairs—nearly 3,000 steps. Isn’t it exciting? Oh yes, it is. Lush green vegetation will also make your walk pleasant and white-faced monkey spotted on the way will add colors to your hike. The site will unfold the beauty of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II and Fishtail.

Following up and down the path and passing through rhododendron and pine forest will lead you to Ghorepani. The view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II and Fishtail are main attractions of today.

Early to bed, early to rise. Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. But in this context, if you do not wake up at around 4 am, you will miss the essence of the entire trek. So, wake up early and proceed toward Poon-Hill—most popular vantage point of Annapurna region.

The morning view of sunrise kissing Dhaulagiri and Annapurna will melt your heart. Major attractions from this world-class vantage point are: Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847 m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m.), Annapurna South (7219 m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhre (6993 m.), Annapurna IV (7525 m.), Annapurna II (7937 m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.)

We retrace the path to Ghorepani and have breakfast. Now we head toward Hile following the downhill trail. We pass through Banthanti, Ulleri, and Tikhedhunga before arriving at Hile.

It takes roughly three hours to get in Nayapul from Hile. We hire vehicle to Pokhara. In this city of lakes—Pokhara—you will get ample time to enjoy and relax. Do not forget to experience boating in Phewa lake!

Travel Insurance

For everyone who will plan to Trek in Nepal, it is highly recommended that you get travel insurance that covers added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents (together with the ambulance, helicopter rescue, and other treatment costs). Your insurance policy should cover the entire activities that you are planning to accomplish throughout your stay in Nepal.

In addition to this, the policy should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (counting hospital charges, cost of the medicine, and doctor’s fees) as well as repatriation costs. Also, this trekking trail in Nepal takes you 3,000 m above the altitude, therefore, you also need to ensure that your insurance policy covers treks that go over 3,000 m.

We suggested that you buy your insurance policy from your home country before joining us, as it is difficult buying a local travel insurance policy for foreigners in Nepal.

While you’re in Kathmandu, your accommodation is at a standard hotel (Arrival time and departure time). Your accommodation is at the best local Lodge and Guest Houses where available. While on the trek you will be on full board all 3 times meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, with Tea/Coffee) included in the package. Generally, chosen menu items are Nepalese meals (Dal Bhat), Tibetan fried bread, various types of soups, Momo’s (steamed dumplings), boiled and fried potatoes, kinds of pasta and even pizza. So, overall you have a different choice of foods on the trek. During this trek, you will usually have breakfast and dinner at the same guest house.
