The best way to get to the Annapurna Base Camp short trek is to fly into Kathmandu and then take a bus or taxi to Pokhara. From Pokhara, it's about a four-hour drive and then treks to Sinuwa (2,350m) via Matqu. The first day of the trek is an easy one, with a gentle hike through some villages and rice paddies. After that, the trail gets steeper and more challenging, but the views are more than worth it. On the seventh day, you'll reach the base camp, where you can enjoy stunning views of the mountains before heading back down to Pokhara. The total distance for this trek is 55 kilometres (34 miles) over seven days.
Along the way, you'll pass many small villages and tea houses for those who want to stay overnight along the route. You'll feel like you're walking right up into the mountains when in reality you're only hiking a few hundred meters up from the valley floor - there are no ascents here! After an early morning start from Kathmandu, you'll travel by tourist bus to Pokhara. The ride takes about seven hours, and you'll get to enjoy some amazing views of the Nepalese countryside along the way. You'll arrive in Pokhara in the early afternoon and spend the rest of the day exploring this beautiful lakeside city.
After breakfast in Pokhara, you'll start your drive to Matqu via local transportation. The drive will take about 3-4 hours, and you'll trek for another 6-7 hours to reach Sinuwa. Sinuwa is a small village located at an altitude of 2,350 meters, and it's the perfect place to spend your first night on the trek. You'll have plenty of time to explore the village and meet your fellow trekkers before heading to bed early to rest up for Day 3.
The best way to experience the Annapurna Base Camp is to trek for 7 days. On the third day, you will walk for 7-8 hours to reach Himalaya. This is a moderate to challenging day, but the views are worth it. You'll be rewarded with stunning vistas of some of the world's top ten tallest mountains Mt. Annapurna. Make sure to take plenty of breaks, drink lots of water, and enjoy the journey!
Wake up early for the last and most difficult day of the trek. The trail today is steeper than ever, but the views are more than worth it. After about six or seven hours of hiking, you'll finally reach Annapurna Base Camp. This is the highest point of the trek, and from here you can see some of the most incredible views of your life. Make sure to take plenty of pictures to remember this amazing experience.
On the morning of day five, you'll leave Annapurna Base Camp and make your way back down to lower Sinuwa. The trek takes around seven to eight hours and is a great opportunity to reflect on your time at the base camp. You'll likely see some different wildlife on the way back down, so keep your eyes peeled!
On day 6 of your Annapurna Base Camp Trek, you'll trek for 7 hours to reach Matqu. This is a beautiful village situated at the base of the mountains, and it's the perfect place to rest and take in the scenery before heading back to Pokhara. The drive back to Pokhara will take 3-4 hours, and you'll definitely want to take some time to relax and enjoy this beautiful city.
On the morning of day seven, you will be picked up from your hotel in Pokhara and transferred to the tourist bus station. The journey to Kathmandu takes around seven hours, so sit back and enjoy the scenery as you wind your way through the mountains.
You will arrive in Kathmandu in the early afternoon and will be dropped off at your hotel. If you have time, we recommend exploring some of the city's many temples and markets.
That evening, we'll meet for a final farewell dinner where we can share stories of our time trekking through Nepal.
After dinner, it's time to say goodbye to new friends as everyone goes their separate ways.
